ANNA QUARANTA - NON SOLO PIZZO

My name is Anna, and my passion is called "tatting lace."

Over the years, I have done a lot of research, and in addition to traditional tatting, I have also learned Ankars techniques (whose origins are from Eastern countries) and Celtic tatting. I enjoy creating jewelry and accessories because they allow me to unleash my creativity.

Furthermore, by organizing courses, I have the opportunity to share this beautiful technique with others

The Cultural Association "Le Arti Antiche" Embroidery and Lace School in Guardiagrele (CH) was established in 1994 with the primary aim of preserving and promoting the tradition of embroidery and lacework. The embroidery techniques that our instructors, Maria Antonietta Capotosto and Rosa Di Martino, will present at Abilmente are counted thread embroidery techniques: "Sfilato del Sole," a very ancient technique that, according to our research, was brought from the weaving loom to the embroidery frame, "Sfilato Mereska," and "Punto Antico."

Hello, my name is Daniela, and I have been practicing botanical printing for about 10 years. This technique allows me to imprint the patterns and colors of leaves, flowers, roots, and berries onto fabrics, paper, leather, and ceramics. At the fair, I will be offering introductory courses on eco-printing on fabric or leather.

I draw, embroider, and tell alphabets. I use embroidery as a form of therapy, a tool for learning, an opportunity for connection, and a pretext for storytelling. I share my experience: in seeking the right words and delicate movements, I learn..

Embroidery is a fundamental part of my life. Since I was little, I have been passionate about this art, starting with simple techniques and eventually, after many years, approaching a type of embroidery that I prefer: modern embroidery made of colorful fabrics and threads, while still using traditional techniques. The many years of study have led me to invent a new technique, Sicilian Créatif embroidery, representative of the land I live in, but at the same time, filled with many innovations. So, besides embroidering and incorporating my own designs as the starting point, I try to pass on my experience to those, especially beginners, who have a desire to learn.

We are Gruppo Arianna – Fondazione Domani per Voi, and we are here at Abilmente to bring our dream project to life: a supportive village for children with disabilities. This year as well, we bring you unique handicrafts and particularly special pieces that are displayed in our macramé museum in Castelgomberto (VI), located at Palazzo Barbaran.

Would you like to come and visit? It's open on the first Sunday of every month from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM, and by request by calling the number 3339969989. In the rooms of the noble floor, you can admire many works, some of great value because they were crafted by many hands.

I started dedicating myself to embroidery to strengthen my knowledge of the classic Reticello, a type of embroidery usually done in white on white. But then, I decided to take more daring steps and began exploring complex designs and adding colors to my embroidery, both in Reticello and other styles. And you know what? I ended up discovering something truly surprising! In Reticello, I found a way to create truly unique flowers, resulting in original designs that you can see in my Herbarium. I even applied these flowers to Hardanger embroidery, creating the "Fiordaliso," which has become very popular in my latest manual.

I am a dreamer driven by passion and love for fabrics and everything that can be created with needle and thread, in love with manual skills such as hand sewing and embroidery. The techniques that characterize the projects and products they create are Japanese appliqué, patchwork enriched by some basic stitches of classic embroidery, as well as three-dimensional construction (always hand-sewn) taken from traditional but simplified cardboard.  You will find diagrams or kits or artifacts (in limited numbers). You will find me available for any clarification or demonstration.

We are a group of ladies who are passionate about embroidery. We meet every week to embroider, exchange experiences, and learn new techniques. Florentine Trapunto is one of the techniques we adore, but we also have a great love for background nets, Reticello, pulled thread work, cross-stitch, and counted thread embroidery. Another one of our passions is creating sewn boxes.

I have always had a passion for embroidery, sewing, crochet, knitting, which I inherited from my mother. About 30 years ago, thanks to the teachings of my mother-in-law, I got introduced to the world of bobbin lace as a hobby. Having a technical background as a Textile Designer and working in the field of fabric designs, I took up the challenge of designing, drawing, and pricking patterns for bobbin lace as a self-taught enthusiast. Even now, I continue to create designs because, after 30 years, my passion and enjoyment for this art have not faded away!

Embroidery school? Not just that. I like to think of Manufacta - Exploring Threads as a place for experimentation. We knot, weave, and wind all kinds of threads that come into our hands, even the most unlikely ones, to create something that is always unique and exclusively ours. In all colors and for all types. For all ages. The art of ancient handmade thread buttons is my most recent passion: I offer it to you, revised and perfected, right here at Abilmente.

Always fascinated by the net embroideries adorning the grand stained-glass windows of ancient castles and the altars of centuries-old abbeys, I have uncovered the tools and studied the technique, learning to create and embroider filet lace. I discovered that the trunks of grandmothers in the area where I live overflow with linens featuring inserts or entirely worked in net lace, and this sparked the desire to bring them back to light. Now, I teach filet lace, drawing from the past with a modern perspective.

In all my creations I try to combine embroidery and painting, I make them search, chase, compare and joyfully coexist. With my hands I love to join small stitches with colored threads on linen and cotton to weave them with "harmonious distortions" and thus celebrate an ancient craft: embroidery.

Through embroidery I love creating flowers, personalized letters, weaves and stitches  that play harmoniously with the colored petals. I can't wait to let you enter my world and pass on all my passion and technique to you.
