ORIGINI

Curated by EQA (European Quilt Association)

This year as well, EQA has been invited to Abilmente to exhibit the best of European production. The Association, which includes 20 member states, Italy among them, aims to promote quilting beyond borders, cultures, and languages.
The textile works on display revolve around the theme “Origins,” which may represent a beginning or the growth of something that can be ethnic, cultural, linguistic, or scientific. Members were asked to use their own definition or interpretation of “Origins” to create an original piece of textile art.
Eighty-four quilters from 19 European countries responded to the challenge. A qualified jury will select the finalists, from whom the top winners will be chosen. The awards will be presented during a small ceremony at the exhibition on Friday, February 20 at 12:00 PM.

Omaggio ai Fiori d'Artista

Tribute to Yayoi Kusama
Flowers That Bloom Tomorrow

Sul filo dell’arte presents at Abilmente 2026 a new evolving installation, which will grow and expand from one edition to the next.

Nature has always been a source of inspiration for artists of all eras, and we have created tributes to the works that move us the most.

With the contribution of our members and highly creative artisans, we will exhibit 2D and 3D floral art reproductions made using crochet, knitting, loom weaving, embroidery, and mixed textile techniques.

Anyone wishing to take part in the spring or autumn exhibitions may bring their contribution directly to the Abilmente 2026 editions, in the form of simple bouquets of flowers that are realistic in size and color (reference artist: Mother Nature), or as a tribute to a painting or sculpture by a recognized artist.
