10 Things to know about Bead Crochet

What happens when beads and crochet hook meet? Let's find out...
WHERE CAN I FIND BEAUTIFUL BEAD CROCHET DIAGRAMS?
I cannot recommend a specific site for Bead Crochet patterns given the vastness of the offer. Living in the internet age is really a great fortune because the web is an inexhaustible resource of inspiration and research for those who approach the various techniques and also for those who make creativity their job or their passion. So just type in any search engine the words 'bead crochet pattern' or 'pattern bead crochet' and a world to be discovered will open up.
CAN YOU TELL ME SOME TRICK IN THE BEAD CROCHET?
The real and very important 'trick' to accomplish a precise job, which is just as you thought and designed it, is to work a few test samples to find the most suitable crochet number for the beads you will use and the right thread tension.
WHICH WIRE DO YOU USE IN THE CREATION OF NECKLACES WITH BEADS?
To make necklaces or other jewelry with the Bed Crochet technique I prefer to use cotton threads, of various thickness depending on the size of the beads. I also used the thread for micro macrame very often and also polyester. Cotton certainly makes the job less rigid than nylon or polyester, so if I need a more consistent result I use the latter.
IF THE ORDER WITH WHICH THE BEADS HAVE BEEN PLACED IS WRONG, HOW CAN YOU CORRECT IT?
Wrong beading order is the nightmare of every 'crochet machine'. Don't panic! Just break the excess bead with flat-tipped pliers, or cut the thread, correct the order of the beads, and stick to the processing again as when you finish a ball of yarn and start a new one during a job. I explained these two techniques step by step in my two manuals edited by Corrado Tedeschi Editore: 'First steps in Bead Crochet' and 'Bead Crochet Low-knit beads'.
WHAT KIND OF BEADS DO YOU PREFER AND WHY?
I love working mainly with 'conteria' beads better known today as 'rocailles'. They are rounded beads that can be crocheted very easily.
I always recommend experimenting with Bead Crochet using other shapes of beads because the result will be surprising, always different and unexpected!
WHICH CROCHETING TIPS TO USE WITH VERY SMALL BEADS?
It is always difficult to recommend a number of crochet hooks as it is the personal tension of the thread that determines the choice. With the beads of size 15/0 or 13/0 I use the crochet hook 0.60, sometimes even 0.50.
WHEN DO YOU WORK WITH MANY ROUND BEADS, DO YOU USE THE LOWEST SHIRTS BY MOVING THE PEARL UNDER THE CROCHET?
In the processing of a tubular that provides many beads in the round (more than 9-10) the low stitch is used, This point allows the bead to settle diagonally and not horizontally (as happens using the very low stitch) and the final result will see the beads perfectly positioned between them.
WHICH BEAD CROCHET FOREIGN CREATIVES DO YOU PREFER?
HOW DO THE BEAD CROCHET SCHEMES READ?
The patterns for Bead Crochet can have different graphics. If you make a simple, low-knit or very low-knit tubular tire, follow the order starting from the first row to the left and from the top. Start from the top for each row.
If, however, a ball is covered, follow the order indicated by the arrows, or, in the absence of these, from the first row at the top and from the left, for each row. Here you can find my tutorial on how to cover a ball.
HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO USE THE CROCHET TECHNIQUE WITH BEADS TO ALSO MAKE BAGS?
The Bead Crochet was used, since the nineteenth century, to make small wrist bags.
I myself made some of them and my favorite is the one shown in the picture: I threaded and worked 1440 Swarovski pearls to compose the image of the vessel!
